Cape Town is a favourite destination for wine lovers from all over the world. There is a huge number of wineries, and the most popular of them are literally half an hour drive from the city center.
We’ve put together a selection of farms with the richest history and best wine near Cape Town. You can also easily explore and study each of them together with the Beloc team – follow the link Excursions to wine farms.
Groot Constantia
The oldest and one of the most famous wineries in South Africa. Its history begins in 1685. People say that Napoleon himself loved the wine from this winery! Today, both red and white wines are produced here and they are of internationally recognised quality.

Steenberg

Constantia Uitsig
Another beautiful farm in the Constantia Valley. Here you can not only taste great wine, but also have a delicious meal at a local restaurant and try one of the most unusual ice cream in the city (it’s not called Kristen’s Kick-Ass Ice Cream in vain). You can also ride a bike in a park of various difficulty levels. On the other hand, of course, we do not recommend combining drinking wine with physical activity.

Eagle’s Nest late
Previously, this farm produced fruits and vegetables, but in 2000 there was a disastrous fire that destroyed the plantings almost completely. After that, the owners decided to change their speciality started wine production. Well, there is a silver lining!
Unlike others in the valley, this winery is primarily known for its red wines.

Buitenverwachting
The name of the winery translates from Dutch as “exceeding expectations”, and this farm fully corresponds to it. For more than 250 years of history, the winery has had different owners. However, it has retained the excellent quality of winemaking. Today, Buitenverwachting produces world-famous white wines, and it also has a restaurant, a coffee shop and an event venue on-site.

D’Aria
D’Aria consists of two wine farms, Doordekraal and Springfield. In winter, there is a large amount of precipitation, which, combined with the characteristics of the soil, makes the location of the vineyards almost ideal. In such conditions, it’s a sin not to make a gorgeous wine! Local sorts of wine are marked by a large number of awards.
