Chale Island, on which the hotel is located, is a real paradise for lovers of nature and relaxation. Here you can enjoy the crystal clear sea of the Indian Ocean, white beaches and amazing sunsets. This is a luxurious option for relaxation after a busy trip to Kenya with AfricaBrut, when you have already been on a safari in Maasai Mara, went to Mount Kilimanjaro and now want to relax to the fullest!

The Island has a diverse flora and fauna, making it a great place for excursions and bird watching, admiring rare plants and even sea turtles. The island is also home to a rare population of colobus monkeys, one of the largest and most diverse species in the world. These monkeys are distinguished by their long black and white woolly toes, which make them unique from other monkey species.

The name colobus comes from the Greek word kolobos, which means mutilated, because colobus monkeys do not have thumbs. They are easy to recognize due to their clear black -and- white markings. Colobus monkeys live in packs of 5 to 10, are herbivores and are considered harmless, they can often be seen throughout the resort. They either jump up and down the branches or wander around. What makes Chale Island’s colobus monkey population unique is not only their appearance, but also their behaviour and social structure. Colobus monkeys live in large groups, where males play the dominant role and females raise their offspring.

Chale Island has become an important site for studying the behaviour and biology of colobus monkeys, as well as for conservation programs for this unique species. The biggest threats include: the loss of their habitat due to deforestation, reducing the monkeys’ habitat, and the the hunters appeal for their fur. Located on the mainland, the Colobus Conservation Center helps care for these primates, especially those who are injured or abused. Today, about 200 monkeys live on the island, which are under the protection and supervision of specialists.
